We’re Pushing Mega Road, Rail, Housing Projects -Tinubu

By Sunday Etuka

President Bola Tinubu has disclosed that his administration is building infrastructure at an unprecedented scale, with over 2,700 kilometres of highways and major roads currently under construction, reconstruction, or rehabilitation across the country.

In a nationwide broadcast on Friday, the President listed several flagship road projects underway, including Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano corridor, and the long-troubled East-West road.

He said the significant sections of these projects were already completed or nearing completion, which according to him would improve regional trade and create thousands of jobs.

On housing, Tinubu said the Renewed Hope Housing Programme and the Federal Housing Authority were together delivering more than 10,000 units across 14 states and the FCT, with major Renewed Hope Cities progressing in Abuja, Lagos and Kano. The programme, he said, had created over 300,000 jobs.

In the energy sector, the President said the $5billion Nigeria LNG Train 7 project was nearing completion and that large-scale domestic and modular refineries had begun to reduce the country’s dependence on imported petroleum products.

He also said his administration was clearing legacy debts in the power sector, expanding transmission infrastructure, and investing in renewable energy.
According to him, rail modernisation projects were ongoing to improve logistics and economic integration across the federation.

He framed the spending as part of a broader strategy to make “the benefits of return felt more directly in the daily lives of ordinary Nigerians,” even as he acknowledged that the work ahead is “enormous.”
