Speaking to some select journalists during its Annual CommunITy Day, a day designed to give back to the society held at the Old Parade ground, Area 10 Garki, Abuja, the President, ISACA, Abuja Chapter, Mr Glory Idehen said, the association would collaborate with the government to clean up the Nigerian cyber space.

Idehen said, “when you have Illicit money coming into the system, it destabilises all the good intentions of government, consequently, technology comes handy for government to track illicit financial flows into the country”.

On internet penetration, and government’s efforts in that direction, he said, with the eNaira being launched by the Central bank of Nigeria (CBN), government would definitely push further for internet penetration and financial inclusion especially at the rural areas.

“If the unbanked population is well captured, it will speed up implementation of government policies”, he added.

Also speaking, the Vice President, ISACA, Nsuhoridem Ndeokwelu said,
technology was still relatively new in Nigeria and Policy makers in Nigeria make laws that are not relevant to the people here, so there was need for collaboration. “We have tried to encourage that dialogue.

“Last year, when we had our annual conference, the Federal government released the Nigeria Date Protection Regulation (NDPR), a regulation that legalise digital transaction in Nigeria. We made our review and submitted to them. We look forward to more of such dialogue”, she said.

ISACA Abuja Chapter, has over 300 members drawn from NITDA, CBN, NNPC, and other government agencies.
