Interagency Collaboration, Key To Tackling Emerging Security Threats – NSCDC Boss

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abubakar Audi, has emphasized the importance of interagency collaboration for effectively addressing emerging security threats in the country.
The NSCDC chief made the emphasis on Wednesday, while speaking during the opening ceremony of a 3-Day seminar on Inter-Agency Collaboration and Coordination and Alternative Disputes Resolution (ADR).
A statement by the Corps’ spokesman, Babawale Afolabi, says that the seminar, organised by NSCDC in collaboration with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), is in furtherance of the commitment to ensure a peaceful Nigeria through collaborative efforts and reduced conflicts among security agencies and the public.
The NSCDC helmsman stated that collaboration among security personnel is crucial for effective information and intelligence sharing, enhanced response, building of trust, improved public safety, and promoting peace and stability, among others.
He explained that the workshop offers a unique opportunity to share knowledge and experiences in building stronger partnerships and resolving conflicts peacefully.
“As an agency, we recognize our critical role in community peace, stabilization and conflict resolution; hence, the need to explore innovative approaches to Alternative Dispute Resolution. Leveraging on our diverse expertise to promote social cohesion cannot be overemphasized”, he said.
Speaking earlier, the country representative of KAS, who was ably represented by Mr Lukas Laible, explained that KAS is part of the German political foundation to promote democracy, good governance, and the rule of law, as well as foster good relationships between the Republic of Germany and its host community.
Mr Lukas said the seminar is one of the interventions of the organization that bring about an improvement in the peace process in Nigeria.
“KAS is conducting a training centre in five of the six geographical zones of Nigeria in the area of interagency collaboration, coordination and cooperation”, Lukas said.
He encouraged the participants to maximize the opportunities available at the seminar as they will serve as multipliers of the gains of the programme.
The training witnessed the attendance of operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), NSCDC and Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
