Kano Governor’s Special Adviser Dies 24 Hours After Swearing In

The Kano state government has been thrown into mourning following the death of the newly appointed Special Adviser to the Governor on Works, Ahmad Bunkure.

According to a statement signed by the governor’s spokesman, Sanusi Dawakin Tofa, Bunkure passed away on Wednesday at a medical facility in Egypt about 24 hours after he was officially sworn in as political aide of the governor in absentia.

The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, had announced a fresh round of appointments and reassignments, aimed at enhancing governance across the state, and a statement released by his spokesperson on Sunday, announced that Bunkure had been appointed Special Adviser on Works. He was sworn in only a day before his demise.

“This is a heartbreaking moment for us as a government. Bunkure was a dedicated professional whose expertise and contributions were expected to drive our administration’s vision for development. His loss is deeply felt”, the statement read in part.

Meanwhile, condolences have continued to pour in, including from the National leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, and members of the Kano State Government.
