Obi Felicitates Pope Leo XIV On 70th Birthday

Pope Leo XIV, the leader of the global Catholic Church, celebrates his 70th birthday today, drawing tributes from world leaders, including Nigerian politician, Mr. Peter Obi.

Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate in Nigeria, on his X on Sunday, described Pope Leo XIV as a “living witness to God’s grace,” highlighting his humility and courage as a shepherd of the Church.

“Your life reflects how faith and perseverance can transform trials into triumphs”, Obi said, mentioning the connection between the pope’s birthday and the feast which celebrates the cross as a sign of redemption and hope.

As Pope Leo XIV enters his 70th year, the Universal Church prays for his strength and wisdom.

“As you continue to preside over the church in communion with the bishops, my heartfelt prayer is that the Lord will keep guiding and guarding you, granting you strength, peace, and joy in the sacred task you carry,” Obi added.
