Academic activities commenced immediately after the inauguration, with the cadets, who reported on 26 January 2026, undergoing a 65-week intensive training programme aimed at equipping them with advanced skills in air traffic management, radar operations, and surveillance to enhance the safe and efficient management of Nigeria’s increasingly complex airspace.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, described the programme as a strategic intervention that goes beyond routine training.

He noted that the initiative reflects the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to supporting civil aviation and ensuring national airspace safety through sustained collaboration with NAMA, thereby strengthening civil-military synergy for the benefit of all airspace users.

In his remarks, the Commandant, ATSTC, Air Vice Marshal NB Folaji, stated that the cadets would receive world-class academic and practical instruction aligned with contemporary air traffic control realities.

He added that the partnership with NAMA highlights the NAF’s continued support to civil authorities and its dedication to promoting safe, efficient, and secure skies across the country.

The course forms part of the Nigerian Air Force’s broader capacity-building efforts aimed at raising professional standards, deepening civil-military cooperation, and reinforcing its role in safeguarding critical national infrastructure.
