Six Kidnapped Victims Rescued, Five Suspected Terrorists Arrested In Kebbi, Taraba

Troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) have rescued six kidnapped victims in Kebbi and arrested five suspected associates of a notorious bandit in separate operations in Kebbi snd Taraba states.
Media Information Officer, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed on Thursday, saying the Kebbi operation followed credible intelligence on suspected terrorist activity at Mehinua Village along the Wasagu-Ayu Road in Wasagu Local Government Area on September 2, 2026.
He said troops of Sector 2 engaged the terrorists with heavy fire, forcing them to flee and abandon the six victims, who were rescued unharmed.
The victims and the recovered vehicle were subsequently handed over to relevant community authorities for further necessary action, Danja said, adding that the operation underscores the troops’ resolve to safeguard law-abiding citizens across the Joint Operations Area.
He commended the public for its continued support and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest security outpost to enable security agencies to take appropriate action.
In a separate operation in Taraba, troops of Sectors 1 and 3 of Operation WHIRL STROKE raided a suspected terrorist hideout at Peva in Takum Local Government Area in the early hours of September 3, following credible intelligence received at about 12:30am.
Acting Media Information Officer, Headquarters JTF Operation WHIRL STROKE, Lt. Ahmad Zubairu Zubairu, said the suspects reportedly fled after being alerted to the troops’ approach, but five persons believed to be associates of a notorious bandit operating in the area were arrested.
Troops recovered two AK-47 rifle magazines, 46 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a woodland camouflage jacket and jungle hat, four charm vests and assorted charms. The recoveries, according to the provide useful leads for ongoing efforts to identify and apprehend fleeing members of the criminal network.
