By Sunday Etuka

As Muslims across the country troop out to celebrate Eid el Fitri, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has called on them to obey traffic regulations, avoid dangerous driving, and prioritise the safety of lives and property.

His Eid-el-Fitri message was contained in a statement on Friday by the Corps Commander, Ag. Corps Public Education Officer, Felicia Kalu.

Mohammed commended the faithful for their devotion, discipline, and spiritual commitment throughout the holy month, urging them to sustain the virtues of love, patience, selflessness, and peaceful coexistence which define the Ramadan period.

The Corps Marshal emphasised that the values of restraint, sacrifice, and care for others are critical to promoting safety on Nigerian roads, noting that many road traffic crashes are avoidable when road users act with patience and consideration.

He therefore called on motorists, pedestrians, and all road users to imbibe these lessons, especially during the festive period.

While wishing the Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous celebration, the Corps Marshal reaffirmed the commitment of the FRSC to ensuring safer roads through sustained patrols, strategic deployment of personnel, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders nationwide.

He further urged members of the public to support the Corps’ efforts by promptly reporting road crashes and emergencies through the FRSC toll-free emergency line 122, as well as the National Traffic Radio platforms, to enable timely response and lifesaving interventions.

He concluded by encouraging all Nigerians to use the occasion of Eid el Fitri to promote unity, national harmony, and collective responsibility towards building a safer road environment for all.
