Power Outage In Edo As TCN Announces Maintenance At Omotosho Transmission Substation

Electricity customers in parts of Edo State would experience power outage for about 9 hours as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled preventive maintenance exercise at Omotosho Transmission Substation.

TCN said the maintenance would be carried out on 150MVA 330/132/33kV transformer and 44/40MVA 132/33kV transformer today, April 8, 2026, from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

In a statement on Wednesday by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the power company explained that the maintenance was necessary to enable TCN’s maintenance team investigate and rectify the fault affecting the remote operation of the secondary breaker on the 150MVA transformer, as well as carry out annual preventive maintenance on the 44/40MVA transformer and its associated equipment.

Consequently, it said, Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) and Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) would be unable to offtake power through the Weewood, Igbotako, Rubber Estate, Igbokoda, and Ode-Aye 33kV feeders.

TCN apologises for any inconvenience this would cause to electricity customers in the affected areas.
