Petrol Consumption In Nigeria Hits 51.1m Litres Per Day In April -NMDPRA

The latest Factsheet Report by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), shows that petroleum products consumption in the country increased to 51.1million litres per day in April 2026, relative to the 47.3million litres of the products consumed in the month of March 2026.

According to the report, petroleum products supply to the domestic market increased in April 2026 while the importation of the products declined in the same month under review.

TheFact Daily reports that the NMDPRA Factsheet Report for April 2026, released on Tuesday, contained figures that provided key insights into market performance, supply trends and sector dynamics for the month of April 2026.

According to the Factsheet, while domestic supply of the products surged to 40.7million litres per day in April 2026, from the 34.2million litres per day in March 2026, the importation of the products declined to 3.7million litres per day in April 2026, relative to the 5.9million litres per day imported in the month of March 2026.

Cumulatively, the report said a total of 44.4 million litres per day of petroleum products was supplied in April 2026, up from the 40.1million litres per day supplied in the month March 2026.

The report disclosed that the Dangote Refinery supplied about 40.7 million litres per day to the domestic market in April 2026, from the 53.6 produced in the same period under review.

Based on the report, about 8.5million litres per day of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), commonly known as diesel, was supplied into the domestic market in April 2026, relative to 3.9million litres per day supplied in March 2026.

Meanwhile, the report said about 1.7million litres per day of diesel was imported into the country in April 2026, relative to the 6.4 litres per day imported in the month of March 2026.

Cumulatively, a total of 10.2million litres of diesel was supplied into the domestic market in April 2026, relative to the 10.3million litres per day supplied in the month of March 2026.

While the Dangote refinery supplied about 8.0million per day to the domestic market from the 23.6million liters per day produced in April 2026, the three modular refineries in the country: Walter Smith, Edo Refinery and Aradel, supplied an average of 0.559 million litres per day of diesel in the month of April 2026.

According to the report, about 4.5 Tk per day of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), commonly known as cooking gas, was supplied in April 2026, while none was imported in the month under review.
