The Ministry of Interior has disowned a fake press release circulating on social media and messaging platforms, falsely claiming that the ongoing recruitment exercise by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has been postponed until after the 2027 general election.
The fake document, titled “CDCFIB Recruitment Update” and dated August 11, 2026, was purportedly issued by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Magdalene Ajani on Thursday, the Ministry said the document did not originate from the Ministry, the Minister’s office or the CDCFIB.
The Ministry described the purported statement as “fake, unauthorised and fraudulent,” stressing that the Minister neither signed nor issued it.
It further clarified that no decision has been made to defer the recruitment exercise until after the 2027 general election, adding that the exercise remains ongoing.
The Ministry urged members of the public and applicants to disregard the fake document and rely exclusively on information published through the Ministry’s and CDCFIB’s verified platforms.
Applicants were also advised to use only the official recruitment portal, cdcfib.gov.ng, for authentic updates concerning the exercise.
The Ministry warned the public against being misled by unauthorised information circulating online and reiterated the importance of verifying recruitment-related announcements through official channels.
