Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have neutralised several Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, including a high-profile Shura Council member, Abu Hajara, during a fierce encounter in Kukawa, Borno State.
According to the Theatre Conmand on Sunday, the terrorists killed during the October 31 engagement also included Abul Walid, a prominent commander and close associate of ISWAP’s overall Wali, Ba Shuwa, and two high-ranking Arab fighters.
The troops repelled a massive ISWAP assault on their positions in Kukawa, deploying ground forces and air assets to defeat the attack. They subsequently recovered several arms, ammunition and communication devices.
The operation came barely three days after the attack in Buni Yadi, where troops reportedly neutralised 55 terrorists, including key commanders Ali Mandara Abba Gajiri, also known as Munzir; Habu Ikkima Nakif Yana Faruk; and Commander Gogore.
The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting law-abiding citizens and sustaining operations aimed at eliminating terrorist elements and destroying their camps across the region.
