TCN Schedules Six-Day Phased Power Outage In Nsukka For SCADA Equipment Tests

By Sunday Etuka

Electricity customers in parts of Nsukka and surrounding communities should expect power interruptions from 5th to 10th November 2026, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) carries out a planned outage at the Nsukka–New Haven 132kV Transmission Substation.

TCN, in a statement on Tuesday, said the outage would allow its contractor to conduct SCADA pre-commissioning tests on equipment at the substation.

The company said work would be done in phases over the six days. Adding that as a result, interruptions would be limited to areas directly affected by the work at any given time, while other areas would continue to receive bulk electricity supply.

It said during the exercise, MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) would be unable to supply electricity to customers served by the Nsukka 132kV Substation, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and the Orba and Sumas 33kV feeders.

TCN apologised for any inconvenience the planned outage may cause customers in the affected areas.
