2027: How Yilwatda Canvassed Support For Tinubu, APC Candidates In Ekiti

By Sunday Etuka

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has asked Ekiti residents and Nigerians generally to back President Bola Tinubu and every APC candidate with overwhelming votes in the 2027 general elections, saying the President’s record of reforms and national development has earned him a second term.

He spoke on Thursday at the APC presidential campaign rally in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, where he appeared alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), governors and other senior stakeholders to introduce the party’s candidates to Ekiti voters.

In a statement on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda said he was delighted by the large turnout and warm reception given to the party leadership and campaign train.

He described the crowd as clear evidence of public confidence in the APC and its Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to him, the rally offered a chance to present candidates from the presidential level down to those seeking seats in the National Assembly and the Ekiti State House of Assembly, while restating the party’s resolve to retain power and deliver greater prosperity.

Yilwatda called President Tinubu both a performer and a reformer, noting that his administration had pursued far-reaching changes to reposition the economy, strengthen public institutions and widen opportunities for citizens and businesses.

He singled out the tax reforms, saying the new framework was designed to shield low-income earners and small businesses from needless burdens so they can keep more resources for personal and business growth.

He said this reflects the President’s commitment to a fairer system in which taxation does not weigh most heavily on those least able to bear it.

The APC chairman also pointed to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing it as a major step in expanding access to higher education so that lack of money does not stop deserving students from pursuing their ambitions.

He added that eligible beneficiaries also receive a monthly upkeep allowance of ₦20,000 to support students and their families.

On infrastructure, Yilwatda cited road projects in Ekiti State, including key links between Ado-Ekiti and Akure, along with other completed and ongoing works, as proof of the Federal Government’s commitment to better transport, stronger economic activity and wider development.

He insisted that the administration’s agenda goes beyond policy announcements and is visible in practical interventions that improve lives.

Presenting President Tinubu to Ekiti voters for another term, he urged them to support the APC in all elective positions, stressing the need for candidates who will work in harmony with the President to sustain reforms and speed up national progress.

He also called for the election of APC candidates into the National Assembly and the State House of Assembly, saying a strong legislative presence would boost the party’s ability to push its development agenda.

Yilwatda reaffirmed the APC’s standing as Nigeria’s dominant political party, with an extensive structure across the country, and voiced confidence that it would consolidate its electoral strength in 2027 and provide leadership that drives economic recovery and shared prosperity.

He urged party members, supporters and stakeholders in Ekiti to stay united, mobilised and focused on securing victory for all APC candidates and expressed optimism that the Renewed Hope Agenda would keep delivering meaningful progress. He asked the electorate to renew their confidence in President Tinubu and the APC.
