AGILE To Construct WASH Facilities In 110 Unity Schools

The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project has hinted that it would construct Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, (WASH) facilities for Government Colleges in the country.

AGILE Communication Officer, Linda Irabor disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.

Irabor informed that, in pursuit of this goal, the Project recently held technical workshops with the Principals of Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs) from the Southern and Northern zones of the country in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and Kano, Kano State, respectively, to enlighten them on the modalities of the intervention.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Mr. Andrew, David Adejo, represented by the Director, Senior Secondary Education, Hajia Binta Abdulkadir, disclosed that the Projects intervention was compelled by the Federal Government’s desire to make Secondary education more appealing to learners and teachers.

In her remarks, the National Coordinator, AGILE Project, Mrs. Amina B. Haruna represented by the Deputy National Project Coordinator (DNPC), Mrs. Abuka Ajanigo, informed the Principals on what the Project had achieved thus far in its bid to make secondary education more conducive in the implementing states.

She urged them to adhere to the stipulations and standards of the AGILE Project and the World Bank while constructing the facilities.

The Principals expressed their gratitude for the intervention as well as their readiness to abide by the stipulated standards for the WASH facilities.
