The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a pastor, Edwin Nwabueze, and an alleged accomplice, Sadiq Jamiu, over the theft of a Toyota Camry at UTC Plaza, Garki District, Abuja.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this on Friday, October 30, 2026, saying the arrests followed sustained investigations into the vehicle theft.
Adeh said Nwabueze, who hails from Oji River, Enugu State, but resides in Benue State, identified himself as a pastor with Salvation Power Bible Ministry in the North Bank area of the state. He was arrested at his residence on October 27 and subsequently led operatives to another location where Jamiu was apprehended.
Preliminary investigations have also linked Nwabueze to previous arrests by the Benue State Police Command over alleged vehicle theft.
The police said further findings indicated that the suspects belonged to an interstate vehicle theft syndicate specialising in stealing and selling vehicles across different states.
The Command said investigations were ongoing to establish the full extent of the syndicate’s operations and apprehend other members still at large. The suspects remain in custody and would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the emergency numbers 08032003913 and 08061581938.
