Police Digitalize Cooperative Society Operations

The Nigeria Police Cooperative Multi-Purpose Society Limited has introduced an automated platform to enable co-operators carry out seamless transactions on their accounts.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, said the development was to ensure that Co-operators have quick access to their funds, as well as to bridge the gap between the management of the society and members of the Society.

TheFact Nigeria reports that the Nigeria Police Cooperative Society

was established in 1977 by Force Order No. 130, to cater for the welfare needs of the Nigeria Police and their families.

Acclaimed the largest Cooperative Society in Nigeria and Africa, it aims to provide distinctive and innovative welfare services to its members as well as the public through the utilization of modern day internet technology to deliver qualitative welfare services.

Adejobi explained that in line with the mandate of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, the Nigeria Police Cooperative Society, under the watch of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Bello Makwashi, was operating an open policy to break bureaucratic processes, by providing his personal contact details to Co-operators for direct access and assistance.

The FPRO further reacted to certain spurious allegations against the Management of the Society, to the effect that members of the Society have not been able to access their voluntary contributions for over 6 months as the Society, “has placed a priority on withdrawals and closure of accounts”.

On the allegation that the Management was using the Co-operators’ money to build houses, Adejobi said, “it is vital to emphasize that building affordable houses for Officers and Men of the Force is one of the welfare mandates of the Society to alleviate the housing challenges of Officers and Men during service and in retirement”.

He reiterated the readiness and commitment of the Force to continually project the required paradigm shift being emplaced by the management of the Society.
