The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has enhanced the technical capacity of its personnel with specialised training in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) to improve aircraft maintenance and strengthen workplace safety.
The NAF disclosed on Friday that personnel of its Base in Port Harcourt completed the specialised NDT Level 1 and HSE Levels 1–3 courses facilitated by Bevelog Nigeria Limited under the company’s annual Free Skills Development Initiative (FSDI).
According to the Air Force, the training is part of its ongoing investment in human capital development aimed at sustaining a highly skilled and mission-ready workforce.
It explained that the Non-Destructive Testing programme equips personnel with practical skills for preventive maintenance and technical inspection to improve aircraft serviceability, while the HSE component enhances workplace safety, risk management and accident prevention.
The Service noted that the combined competencies would boost maintenance efficiency, operational effectiveness and adherence to safety standards across its formations.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commended Bevelog Nigeria Limited for supporting the initiative through what he described as a meaningful civil-military partnership.
According to him, such collaborations complement the NAF’s efforts to build a highly skilled workforce while contributing to national security and sustainable development.
He reaffirmed the Air Force’s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships that promote innovation, professional excellence and institutional capacity in the discharge of its constitutional responsibility to defend Nigeria and its people.
