The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), OFR, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting families of fallen military personnel.
A statement on Tuesday by the SA (Media) to the Minister, Leah Babatunde, says Gen. Musa made the reaffirmation following a visit by Mr. Hassan Braimah, brother of the late Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah, to the Ministry of Defence in Abuja.
Brigadier General Braimah, a distinguished Infantry officer of the Nigerian Army, died in active service at Benisheikh on April 9, 2026. Until his death, he served as Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade. He was buried with full military honours at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri on April 15, alongside seven other personnel who lost their lives in service to the nation.
During the visit, Hassan Braimah reflected on the late General’s dedication and commitment to national service, expressing pride in his sacrifice and assuring the Minister of the family’s determination to support those he left behind.
Responding, the Defence Minister extended the condolences of the Ministry and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the Braimah family, while reiterating the Ministry’s open-door policy and continued support for families of fallen heroes.
“The Armed Forces will never abandon the families of those who lay down their lives for this country,” General Musa stated, adding, “We remain committed to providing assistance, care, and direct access to the Ministry whenever needed.”
The visit highlighted the nation’s appreciation for the sacrifices of its military personnel and the Ministry’s resolve to preserve their legacy through sustained support for their families.
