NUJ FCT Chair Congratulates Journalists On Successful Press Week Celebration

The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, Comrade Grace Ike, has extended her heartfelt congratulations to the journalists in the nation’s capital for their invaluable contributions to the successful celebration of the 2025 Press Week, the first of its kind in Abuja.

Ike, in an appreciation letter on Saturday, sighted by TheFact Daily, thanked all the NUJFCT members who turned out en masse for the 2025 Press Week, saying that their enthusiasm, dedication, and unity were the driving force behind the success of the event.

“Your active participation truly reflects the strength and solidarity of our union,” she added.

The Chairman particularly expressed her deepest appreciation to the EXCO members for their unwavering commitment and tireless efforts throughout the Press Week project.

“Your leadership, strategic support, and constant encouragement have been pivotal in steering the event toward excellence. Your collective dedication serves as an inspiring example to us all,” she added.

The first female Chairman of the Council, also commended the Press Week Committee, led by Rt. Evelyn Onyilo, for its meticulous planning, coordination, and passion which ensured that every aspect of the event was executed flawlessly.

“Under your capable leadership, the Press Week shone brightly as a beacon of professionalism and journalistic integrity,” she added.

Ike also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the former chairmen of Council, whose guidance,wisdom, and support laid a strong foundation that helped shape this successful event.

“The legacy of your dedication continues to inspire the current leadership and members alike and we say a big thank you,” she said.

Furthermore, she commended all the chapel leaders (chairmen and secretaries) for their outstanding efforts in mobilizing their members, noting that their grassroots leadership and enthusiasm guaranteed a robust and spirited turnout, which energized the entire Press Week experience.

“I express profound gratitude to our veterans whose years of hard work, mentorship, and commitment have been instrumental in sustaining the NUJ FCT. Your enduring service forms the bedrock of our union’s progress and success.

“Finally, I extend my sincere gratitude to all the media houses and online news outlets that supported us by diligently reporting the events throughout the Press Week. Your partnership amplified our message, broadened our reach, and highlighted the importance of our cause and we do not take them for granted.

“Together, your collective contributions underscore the resilience, unity, and passion of our union. “Let us build on this momentum as we continue to uphold the principles of press freedom, professionalism, and the welfare of all journalists,” Ike said in her appreciation letter.
