The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has announced that it would no longer accept cash payment for its services beginning from July 1, 2025.
NIPOST, in a statement on Monday by its Director, Corporate Communications, Franklin Alao said, the development was aimed at repositioning the organisation as a modern, innovative, and digitally driven postal institution.
The organisation said the reforms which are operating under the theme “Change of Renewed Hope Berths at NIPOST Shores,” were part of efforts to align the agency with global best practices, meet the needs of Nigeria’s growing digital economy, and support the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President.
The postal agency stated that at the core of the transformation was a commitment to innovation, accountability, value, and service excellence.
“We are assuring Nigerians of a revitalized NIPOST that delivers superior service and embraces the future,” the organization stated.
NIPOST appreciated the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, for his unwavering support and leadership.
The organization also commended the new Chairman of the NIPOST Board, Barr. Isaac Kekemeke for his passion and strategic foresight since his appointment, and the Postmaster General NIPOST, Tola Odeyemi for her relentless efforts in championing institutional reforms, improving staff welfare, and driving capacity development.
Furthermore, NIPOST said it would implement a performance-based reward and recognition system to encourage excellence, alongside strict disciplinary measures to uphold organizational integrity.
“A major highlight of the reform package is the transition to a fully cashless system. Beginning July 1, 2025, all Post Offices counters nationwide will no longer accept cash payments for their services. Customers will be required to use approved electronic channels for all transactions.
“This is a crucial step in our modernization journey — one that ensures safer, faster, and more transparent service delivery,” NIPOST emphasized”.
