The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) says it is set to commemorate 70 years of women in policing.
A statement on Wednesday by the Force spokesman, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the event, which is slated to hold from 3rd to 4th December 2025, is a celebration of seven decades of courage, resilience, and dedicated service since the enlistment of the first set of policewomen in 1955.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbtokun, while commending the exceptional impact of women officers on the operational effectiveness and public image of the Force, noted that their compassion, integrity, and professionalism have shaped the foundation of modern policing in Nigeria.
“Over the past seven decades, women in the Nigeria Police Force have excelled in diverse areas — from administration and investigations to tactical operations and command leadership — embodying excellence and redefining policing with empathy and purpose”, the Force said.
The statement listed activities lined up for the celebration to include a national lecture, historical exhibition, interactive panel sessions, and an outreach programme.
“The commemoration also highlights the IGP’s unwavering commitment to inclusivity, professionalism, and continuous capacity development for women in policing”, Hundeyin said, even as he, on behalf of the Force, extended profound appreciation to all female officers, past and present, whose courage and dedication continue to inspire pride within the institution and across the nation.
