The Nigeria Police Force, through its Force Intelligence Department – Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS), has recorded a major operational breakthrough with the arrest of four suspected bandits and the recovery of arms and ammunition in Kaduna State.
According to a statement on Monday by the Force spokesman, Anthony Placid, the suspects — Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40) — were apprehended on 7 March 2026 at Tayu in Sanga Local Government Area, following actionable intelligence.
Items recovered from the suspects include four AK-47 rifles with magazines, eighty rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, and one locally fabricated pistol with twenty rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Placid stated that according to preliminary investigations, the suspects are linked to banditry and other violent criminal activities within the region, adding that efforts are ongoing to track down fleeing members of the syndicate and recover additional weapons.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, while commending the operatives for their professionalism, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to intensifying the fight against banditry and safeguarding lives and property nationwide.
