Breaking: Nigeria Defeats South Africa To Cruise Into AFCON Final
The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Wednesday crushed the South African counterparts to book their place in the final of the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Super Eagles defeated Bafana Bafana of South Africa on penalties at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake to advance to the final of the tournament.
A crucial penalty kick from the Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho after the extratime sent the Super Eagles to the Final.
The match ended 1-1 after the extra time with penalties from William Troost-Ekong at the 67 minutes and Teboho Mokoena levelling up at the 90th minute also from the spot-kick.
The game however, progressed into penalty shootout with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa losing 2-4 to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
With the win, Nigeria will either face Ivory Coast or Democratic Republic of Congo who are currently playing.
TheFact Daily had earlier reported that the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima departed Abuja in the afternoon for Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, to cheer up the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
