By Anne Osemekeh, Abuja
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded a series of operational successes against terrorist elements across the North-East in operations conducted between June 16 and 19, 2026.
According to the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the operations have led to the destruction of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), repelling of insurgents and the disruption of terrorist logistics networks.
Goni state that troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team, supported by the Quick Reaction Force (QRF), acted on intelligence provided by local residents regarding the emplacement of IEDs along the Biu–Buratai Road.
The troops immediately conducted a fighting patrol to the area and successfully located and safely detonated five IED cylinders planted by terrorists along the route. The operation was completed without casualties, after which the troops returned safely to base.
In a related development, troops of the 153 Task Force Battalion on June 17 engaged terrorists along the Miyanti–Ngoshe axis while returning from a picketing operation in Kirawa. The troops encountered an unconfirmed number of insurgents mounted on about 60 motorcycles.
Although the terrorists initiated the attack, the troops responded with superior firepower, forcing the insurgents to retreat towards Miyanti. Following the encounter, troops recovered 817 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, three motorcycles, two solar panels, 102 sachets of salt, a motorcycle tyre, two motorcycle tubes and other motorcycle spare parts believed to be intended for terrorist operations.

On June 19, troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade Garrison recorded another breakthrough during a routine stop-and-search operation based on credible intelligence concerning terrorist logistics activities.
The troops intercepted and arrested two suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP logistics suppliers identified as Mohammed Bukar, alias “Dege”, aged 35, and his apprentice, Iliyasu Abdullahi, aged 26. The suspects were apprehended in a cyan Volkswagen vehicle with registration number FGF-357-AG while allegedly transporting Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and relief materials intended for terrorist elements.
The military said the successful operations demonstrate the continued effectiveness of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement, disrupting their supply chains and degrading their operational capabilities across the North-East theatre.

Operation HADIN KAI also called on members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information, stressing that community cooperation remains critical to sustaining gains against terrorism and restoring lasting peace in the region.
